2012 Martin OM-42

A pearly OM, built with scalloped bracing, Indian rosewood back and sides, and vintage features, the OM-42 is one of Martin's most iconic modern flattops. There are only 2 pre-war OM-42s in existence, so the modern version is a nice addition to the pantheon of Martin's vintage collection.

The guitar features a modified V neck with 1-3/4” nut, 25.4” scale and comfortably wide 2-1/4” pin spread at the bridge. Vintage style open-geared tuners, and pearl C.F. Martin inlays adorn the bound headstock, Style 45 snowflake inlays decorate the fingerboard and bridge, and ivoroid bindings border the body and neck.

This consigned example is crack-free and in nice shape with the exception of slight binding separations at the waists and slight finish discoloration to the top where one's right arm would contact the guitar. The saddle has been lowered to its maximum to allow for fingerstyle action.

Regardless of the aforementioned strikes, this OM-42 is a very lovely sounding instrument, gorgeous, and is set-up very for very comfortable playing. And with a price that's about 40% less than a comparable new instrument, the value is great.
